How we make decisions
It is important to us here at BEAT that we listen. Listen to our colleagues and our community. Because of this we have in place three Boards that meet regularly to ensure we keep listening and responding to what people tell us they need and not what we think they need.
Trustees Board
As a registered charity we have a Board of Trustees. You can learn more about our Trustees here. This group are registered with the Charity Commission and have a legal obligation not only to ensure BEAT delivers its charitable aims and objectives but that it also complies with charity law. We have a constitution which sets out how we operate as a charity and the Trustees have to adhere to it. Included in that document is a requirement that a minimum of 51% of the Board must live here in Hawksworth Wood. This ensures, for future generations, that BEAT and its aims and ambitions are rooted here supporting the community.
Young Leaders Board
BEAT is about empowering young people to thrive. They need to know they belong here and that BEAT is a place for them. So, we listen. Listen to them telling us what they know they need. This group meets every 6 weeks, supported by BEAT. Our Young Leaders contribute their thoughts on what is going well, what needs to change and what needs to be included here. The board has a maximum of 12 places and they can stay on the board for 2 years. They must be aged between 10 – 17years . If you are a young person or their responsible adult and would like to join this group or learn more about it please email: sarah@beatls5.co.uk with the title Young Leader Enquiry.
Community Management Board
This is a group who meet every 6 weeks. Made up of BEAT Volunteers, partner organisations who operate here and people who take part and use the services available here. They discuss what BEAT is doing, what is going well, what can be improved and if there are gaps in what they believe is needed. This group is a maximum of 12 people who can be on the Board for up to two years, and you must be aged 18 years or more. If you would like to know more or join this group please email: sarah@beatls5.co.uk with the title CMB Enquiry.
